Tips to sweeten your morning

blog-1-bedAs a college student, waking up in the morning and getting my day started can be really……unappealing, especially if what is holding you back is a soft, warm, bed. I understand that some moments in life you don’t want to be woken up by your blaring alarm clock to go to a class or job that you aren’t particular excited for. Ā I know that a routine can be boring and some people when they hear the word routine go running in the other direction, butĀ let’s just take some time and energy to learn how to not to cringe when hearing someone say routine.Ā Usually what comes to mind is a set schedule that can’t be changed or touched and you MUST adhere to that and only that. But let’s be realistic here no one can follow the same schedule every day without changing it up a bit. I have all but mastered ways on how I can make my morning go from sour to sweet in just a few steps.Ā In this blog, I am going to show you how you canĀ ALTER and enhance your morningsĀ one step at a time! In no time, you’ll be ready to take the bull by the horns.

Tip 1) PLANĀ

Waking up around the time you want to wake up every day.

When you’re trying to get your body and mind accustomed to waking up early the best way to get used to that is to pick a time and stick to it! Yes, it may be a huge pain at first I know, but getting yourself used to the same time or close to the same time each day will help with that.Ā This will give you TIME to get ready, eat, relax, etc. without feeling like you’re rushing for time.Ā

Pick your outfit in advanceĀ blog-1-outfit

Try already having the outfit you want to wear picked out and ready to go in the morning. By having an idea or already having your outfit for the next day out,Ā gives you extra time to do things that you wouldn’t normally do because lack of time. Possibly spending a more time on your makeup or trying out a new breakfast recipe that you’ve been eyeing for a while. Although it you may not still be able to do much with the time saved from picking your outfit out,Ā maybe you can have that few extra minutes to catch some more sleep!

Turn your coffee maker to automatic

Imagine waking up to the nice aroma of coffee in the morning, it seriously has saved me at times. Having the luxury of waking up to your coffee pre-made, since it isn’t already in the cup ready, (unless you have a significant other that does that for you), can be a great thing. It can also be the reason why you want to get out of the bed in the mornings. If you have something like a cup of coffee, then it can help you rise out of bed and begin your morning.

blog-picture-1Tip 2) Set the Mood

When I say set the mood I don’t mean as in set the mood for sex, unless, you have a partner and they want to then by all means I think that would be one of the best ways to wake up and start a great morning! What IĀ Mean is try to make things have a more positive outlook.

Set your alarm buzzer to a more appealing sound

If waking up for class or work isn’t your ideal morning, then set the alarm notification to something that won’t blare your ears out. Perhaps your favorite song now or a softer not as harsh sound. Having your sweet dreams interrupted by an annoying blaring noise isn’t what someone would think as being a good wake up call.

Eat BreakfastĀ breakfast-1

You hear everyone say breakfast is the most important meals of the throughout yourĀ entire existence, I sure have, but is that true? Well, yes and no, there are reports stating that breakfast isn’t theĀ MOSTĀ important meal and neither are lunch or dinner, but it is still a good idea to have breakfast, even if it is a small one, to give you energy throughout today. I struggle with eating breakfastĀ every day and I am a huge suspect of eating a bowl of cereal or a pop tart when I can’t seem to get the energy to make a full meal. Just think you could sit down and read a book while eating or catch up on a show you missed while you eat a quick breakfast and by the time you get out of class and lunch is rolling around, you aren’t starving and running towards the nearest fast food place.

Getting some “ME” time

A nice way to start your morning is to relax, and focus on the most important person, YOU. If you by chance have enough time in your morning before you need to go out take this time to indulge, relax, and try to do things that make you happy. As people, we need to give ourselves time to wine down and for once to focus solely on ourselves. This IS a hard task to do and I know I am being ridiculous for asking this (sarcasm), but taking some time for yourself occasionally isn’t a bad thing at all. And if you want to take you time every day then go ahead! You must ā€œtreat yo selfā€ sometimes and why not do that when you have the time? This tip is my all-time favorite because I am a firm believer of getting time for myself and will take any opportunity I can to relax and breathe before my hectic school day.

GET SOME SLEEP!

I can’t express this enough. The way that your morning will be better already is to please get some sleep. I know as a college student you want to hang out and have some fun and although I am not saying you can’t do that, getting sleep is your best bet on having a better morning. If you’re running off Ā 4 hours of sleep and you wake up late for class or your job, I’m pretty sure the rest of your day will not be the greatest.

Even if you decide to do some of these tips and not the others I still think that you’ll get some use out of them! Even the people that are afraid of routine or aren’t morning people can find some good out of these morning tips. Although you may not LOVE waking up in the morning, hopefully at least one of these ideas can help brighten your morning. I try to incorporate at least one or two of these into my day so I am not stuck with doing the same old thing and lately my mornings have improved drastically. If you are busy like me throughout the week try to remember to always stop to smell the roses when you’re as busy as a BEE.Ā
